No problem, I needed it. Had one, needed it and couldn't find it (vague memory of someone borrowing it) bought another one.Lucky I could afford to do it at the time, two day prime shipping got it here in time for the project, I won't loose this one. It's now selling for twelve dollars less than I paid about a month ago.
If you are going to cut plywood of any sort, including 3/4 inch thickness, you need to buy a 3 3/8 carbine blade. For all of you out there looking for a great circular saw for small jobs, I highly recommend this saw. Mikita also makes a 14.4V, 3 3/8 inch circular saw with a snap-in vs. I STRESS that this saw cuts 3/4 inch plywood like butter.
It is meant for jobs such as siding work, remodeling floors, trimwork and hobbies. I highly recommend. This Makita will make approximately six 4 foot long cuts through 3/4 inch plywood before draining the battery. The saw is not meant for heavy duty work. One cannot expect to get the performance of an electric circular saw out of a cordless tool.
I don't understand why some other reviewers posted such negative feedback in reards to it's ineffectiveness, because I have had the complete opposite experience. My carbide blade is going on 2 years without having had to replace it. This particular model is no longer stocked in retail stores. It is a great investment.
For instance, the blade that is provided with the saw is only good to cut drywall with. slide-in battery (basically the same saw, but with a more powerful battery). Perhaps it's not the saw, but the way they are using it.
Porter Cable has a corded 4" that is a LOT better (though it costs more). I ***think*** this thing could cut paper, but I have better and cheaper tools (like a pair of scissors) for that job. Take my word for it, don't throw your money away on this item. This is one tool that really is just about useless. This is probably the worst tool Makita makes. Truly a waste of money. Can't cut plywood of any thickness, moldings, or just about anything else that's made of WOOD. It has no torque and its miter adjustments are imprecise at best.
The cost of of these items are about the same as the saw itself. At first glance the Makita 5090D looks like a good value. Right now one star kind of describes my feelings. I might give it more stars after the battery arrives and I can see how it works. What they don't tell you that it is shipped without a battery or charger. If you don't already own a Makita 9.6 volt battery and charger, you must purchase a battery and charger separately in order to use it.
I would not buy this tool even if it cost $5.00. I purchased this tool to make small cuts and I thought that because it was makita it would be awesome but, it was very noisy and performed like a cheap childs toy. I cant believe it is still in production DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK. If I hadn't lost the reciept I would have took it back. It would not cut through the softest of pine without effort. I finally gave up on it and found out that by using a hand saw it saved a lot of time and worked better.
